5th and 6th Grade Art

We began the year with setting up our sketchbooks and working on a series of observational drawings. This sets the students up to a different pace of work and slows down their process when creating art. The observational drawings gave us a foundation for the line drawing composition project that is now displayed in the front lobby. The students chose a minimum of 2 objects and created a composition using overlapping, observational details and scale to create a dynamic piece. The final step of the project was to create a focal point by using colored pencils to shade one object. We are currently working on a warm and cool colored project based on a single object. More about that project next week!  For my current 6th grade students who participated last year in the Ursuline bird project, there will be a dedication ceremony on Saturday, October 7th. Please use the link on the side for more information.
