3rd and 4th Grade Art

We have had a busy and productive start to our year in art! We began with the observational drawing unit and the returning students showed their ability to retain the previous lessons learned and created several strong drawings. The new students showed a fantastic willingness to try new techniques and methods in art and quickly jumped into drawing with gusto. Following the drawing exercises, we built on the momentum and began a project based on observational drawings of each students shoe. Each student created a realistic line drawing of their shoe and then I made 3 copies of each drawing. The project is also a color theory exercise and we are exploring using warm and cool colors in various materials to create a "shoe show." The pieces are looking great and the students are showing a clearer understanding of color theory as the project progresses.
